INTRODUCTION

In the Philippine Education System, there is a strong emphasis on community immersion as an essential component of teacher training. This is driven by the recognition that 21st-century education demands teachers who are well-connected to their communities and capable of addressing real-world issues. As major stakeholders in the education system, students are actively involved in community-based learning experiences to develop their skills and understanding of local challenges, thereby preparing them to effectively tackle real-world problems in their teaching careers.

Activity 6 focuses on community linkages, teacher’s personal and professional attributes and development, and the importance of their involvement to research and extension activities. During our recent interview with Ma'am Anecita Gomez-Diaz, the esteemed school head, we gained invaluable insights into the significance of community linkages and professional engagement in the field of education. Ma'am Gomez-Diaz emphasized the critical role that schools play as hubs within their communities. She stressed that strong connections with the local community are essential for fostering a supportive and enriching learning environment. These linkages not only benefit the students but also contribute to the overall development and well-being of the community itself.

This engagement not only enhances students' understanding of diverse perspectives and cultures but also brings valuable resources, such as mentorship opportunities and community-based projects, into the educational ecosystem.
